Tips to save time at the airport

Although your flight time may only takes a few hours or less, you always have to look forward to spending what can seem like too much time at the airport before boarding and after landing. Whether you’re a first time flyer or a frequent traveller you can apply these simple strategies to save time at the airport.

1. Before boarding your plane

- Positioning the airport terminals

Several airports are divided into different terminals which might be located near each other. However, during rush hour there will be traffic jams between your living location and the airport. Getting dropped off at the proper terminal will save you a lot of time. When departing from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh city, you can refer to Ho Chi Minh airport guidance and Hanoi airport guidance.

- Screenshot of your boarding pass

If the Wi-Fi does not work very well, a screenshot of your boarding pass can help you not have an embarrassing experience at the check-in counter.

- Check in online

Not all airports offer online check-in but anywhere where this is offered you can check in within 24 hours before departure. Instead of arriving early and queuing for a normal check in you just need to show up at the airport 30 - 60 minutes in advance.

2. Check in time

- Take off all metal accessories

When checking in and going through the security check gate you should take off all metal accessories like watches, bracelets, key chains, belts, ect. in order to prevent any problems. If you have trouble at the security check gate you may be kept for a while for additional screening.

- Avoid queuing at the line with many children

The airport staff will always give priority to families with children to check in first.

3. Upon arrival

- Prepare the necessary documents

You should prepare your documents and be ready to show them at the visa landing counter. Print the visa application form and fill in advance to save time. You can download the application form by clicking here. You will be required to pay for the visa stamp in cash depending on the type of visa you need, so make sure it is ready.

- Use fast track services

When you apply for the Vietnam visa on arrival you will need to queue up to get the visa stamp at the airport. This procedure can take you from 10 minutes to one hour. By using the airport fast track service you will save time at the airport by taking the priority to receive the visa stamp at the landing visa counter. You will get the visa stamp in just a few minutes while your luggage is collected and handed out directly to you at the exit of the customs area.
