Phu Quoc airport departure hall
The passenger terminal at Phu Quoc Island Airport has 2 floors, with a total area of 24,000m2. In each floor, the domestic terminals are located to the right and the international terminal located to the left when you face the exit.
Ground floor:
The ground floor of Phu Quoc airport serves passengers arriving on domestic and international flights. At the first floor of the airport, there is a luggage area, customs, technical room, consumer goods counter, food service counter.
As you can see in the map, upon arrival, you will go through the customs area for clearance. After that, you take your luggage to the baggage claim area. Baggage Lost & Found is located left next to the baggage claim for your convenience.
After the customs inspection area, passengers can meet their friends or representatives of travel agencies, as well as use services at the arrival hall such as currency exchange, dining, transportation, tourist information, etc… before leaving the airport.
First floor:
The first floor is serving passengers departing for domestic and international flights. In general, this floor is structured in a similar way with the ground floor. Here you can find a check-in counter, luggage carousel, security door area, waiting room, duty-free shop, food service counter.
Passing the screening area, checking hand luggage, you will enter the waiting area before disembarking from the boarding lounge by escalators and stairs. Upon arrival or departure, you can find currency exchange counters or booths within the airport terminal. These counters facilitate the exchange of major currencies such as US Dollars, Euros, and other commonly used international currencies into Vietnamese Dong (VND), the local currency. The exchange rates may vary slightly, so it's advisable to compare rates and fees before conducting any currency exchange.

Several food and beverage outlets are located within the airport, offering a selection of local and international cuisine, snacks. Clean free water can be found around the waiting area. For soft drinks and beverages, you can buy them at the coffee shops.

Considering the affordable cost of approximately $5-20, along with the inclusion of high-speed 3G/4G data packages, it is highly recommended to purchase a SIM card upon arrival in Vietnam. Phu Quoc airport conveniently provides SIM card stalls within the arrival hall, as soon as you exit the baggage claim area. The three most popular network providers in Vietnam, namely Mobifone, Vinaphone, and Viettel. With a SIM card you can register for the data package for up to 30GB/ 30 days.
Most of the kiosks in the airport are happy to take a credit card payment for your new Vietnamese SIM card, so you don’t even need to worry about going to the ATM first.

In case passengers have lost or lost their luggage at the arrivals, please contact directly at the Lost and Found counter at the ground floor of the passenger terminal, to the right of the exit passage for domestic arrival terminal or to the left of the exit passage for international terminal. Transfer from Phu Quoc airport to the city centre does not take much time because it is just around 10 km away. Depending on the means of transportation and the ways you choose, the time to travel from the airport to the city centre is around 30 - 40 minutes. 3.1. Airport taxi
Taxis are readily available at the airport. It is recommended to use reputable taxi companies, such as Vinasun or Mai Linh, which have metres for fare calculation to avoid scam. Make sure the driver turns on the metre or negotiate a fixed price before starting the journey. With this type of transportation, you can easily reach an even farther location.
3.2. Car booking application
Grab, a popular ride-hailing application, is available in various cities across Southeast Asia, including Phu Quoc. 3.3. Hotels’ shuttle bus
Many hotels and resorts provide shuttle bus services for their guests. Please check with your accommodation if they offer airport transfers because this option is convenient and may be included in your booking.

3.5. Motorcycle taxi (Xe om)
Xe Om drivers (motorbike taxis) can be found near the airport exit. You should ask or negotiate the fare in advance and ensure you have a safety helmet. Though not suitable for travelling in groups, this will be an option for solo travellers or those travelling light.
3.6. Rental Motorbike
Apart from the above type of transfer, you may consider renting a car or motorbike. Only do that if you're comfortable with driving in Phu Quoc. Many rental services are available on the island. As the island is not too large (around 580km2), having your own vehicle allows you to flexibly explore different attractions, restaurants and beaches.

For first time travellers, why not consider pre-booking a private car transfer through your hotel or a local tour operator.
