Exploring Tu San Canyon in Ha Giang trip by taking a boat ride along the Nho Que River will be an unforgettable experience of the pristine landscapes of this region.
Tu San Alley is located at the foot of Ma Pi Leng Pass (Meo Vac, Ha Giang), where the green Nho Que River flows like a green thread weaving along the curve of the Ha Giang Loop. Nho Que River is honored as one of Vietnam's most unique tectonic valleys.
Tu San Canyon is not only a geomorphological heritage, but also a paleontological - stratigraphic - paleo-environmental heritage. It was discovered in the area of three communes: Pai Lung, Pa Vi and Xin Cai, Meo Vac district, Ha Giang province.
Ta Lang village, located closest to the Tu San Alley, is home to 39 households of the Giay, Tay, and Mong ethnic groups, far from the commune center. The lives of the ethnic people in Ta Lang are almost separate from the outside world. They earn for living mainly by fishing and shrimping in the river, along with one crop of rice and corn each year. Traveling on the road from Ma Pi Leng Pass to Ta Lang village, Pai Lung commune, Meo Vac district is probably an unforgettable experience on an 8 km road with more than 50 curves and steep slopes.

On both sides of the Nho Que River, the land is so fertilized that the Giay ethnic people make use of it to grow rice. Whilst the Mong ethnic people take advantage of dirt amidst the limestone cliff to grow corn. This is also the only plot near Nho Que River to cultivate crops. Life is not as easy as in the urban area, however, local people are striving for themselves every day. On the way, you might encounter the children collecting firewood on steep mountains after school or parents carrying baby on cling and working.
