Many cultural and lifestyle beauties are vividly portrayed through the winning works in the Spring 2021 photo contest - The Year of Ox.
The Spring 2021 Photo Contest was organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association (HOPA), attracting 374 participants with 3,480 works. With the theme "Spring of the homeland", the jury selected 80 winning photos and exhibitions. There were 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes, and 5 consolation prizes.
The award ceremony took place in early February 2021 at Nguyen Van Binh Book Street, Ben Nghe, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
The work” Beloved Spring” by Tran Anh Tuan (Hanoi), won the first prize. He said he took the photo above when he met couple of grandparents happily chatting and bringing peach branches to display for Lunar New Year in Duong Lam ancient village, Son Tay, Hanoi.
The work that won the second prize is “Spring sunshine” by Ho Van Thai Hoang, taken in District 5, Ho Chi Minh City.
“One day at the end of the year, like every time I bring my camera out of the house. The sound of drums and unicorns throbbed at a temple in the distance, I quickly went to see the activities of each team of unicorns and decided to shoot from a high angle. The feeling is very special”, shared Thai Hoang.
The work of “The Union in Tet” by author Nguyen Son Tung won the second prize, taken in Ai Quoc commune, Loc Binh district, Lang Son.
The author shared, Tet reunion, right in the name has expressed an important meaning that everyone loves. This is a day for everyone to return to reunite with their families, to feel the love of their parents, children as well as their loved ones.
The photo “Trieu Khuc Village Festival” by Bui Dang Thanh won the third prize.
Trieu Khuc Village Festival, Thanh Tri, Hanoi is recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2019. The festival is held on January 9-12 Lunar calendar every year, to commemorate the national hero Bo Cai Dai Vuong Phung Hung. In the 8th century, Trieu Khuc village was the place where King Phung Hung gathered his soldiers to surround the Tang dynasty army.
The highlight of the festival is the ancient dance. The boys are dressed up like women in new clothes, blush, lipstick, and scarlet scarves.
The work " Simple Happiness" by author Le Hong Duc (Tuyen Quang) won third prize, capturing a Hmong family at the end of Lao Xa village, Sung La commune, Dong Van district, Ha Giang.
The work “Spring in the afternoon” by author Tran Ngoc Dung (HCMC) won the third prize, capturing the scene of the center of District 1, Ho Chi Minh City that has just been lit, with buildings and the hustle and bustle of people for the coming Tet.
The work “The pier of Spring” by author Nguyen Thanh Tung (HCMC) won the consolation prize, capturing the scene of the spring flower market from above at Binh Dong wharf, along Tau Hu canal, District 8, Ho Chi Minh City. The Tet flower boats are parked close to each other, stretching nearly 2 km, creating a colorful picture.
Hanoi welcomes Christmas and New Year by Pham Van Hoc (Hanoi) is the work that won the consolation prize.
The work " Little Spring" by author Nguyen Duc Phuoc won the consolation prize, taken in the flower valley of West Lake, Tay Ho district, Hanoi.
Go Cong flower garden is an aerial photo taken by Duong Cong Son (HCMC) winning the consolation prize.
“Spring on the porch” by Dang Thanh Bui author (Hanoi) consolation prize, captured in Sung La, Dong Van District, Ha Giang.
