- BNO passport holders are not exempt: British National Overseas (BNO) passport holders are not eligible for visa-free entry to Vietnam. They must obtain a visa before their visit.
- Visa-free stay duration: The duration of your visa-free stay is calculated from the date you enter Vietnam.
2. Other Cases for Vietnam Visa Waiver
Enjoy visa-free entry to Phu Quoc, Vietnam, for maximum 30 days, regardless of your nationality, but Phu Quoc must be your first destination in Vietnam. This applies to both foreign nationals and Vietnamese citizens holding foreign passports. To benefit from Phu Quoc visa exemption, ensure these conditions are met:
- Passport validity: Your passport must remain valid for at least six months beyond your intended arrival date in Phu Quoc.
- Entry via Phu Quoc International Airport: You must arrive at Phu Quoc directly from an international destination. This includes direct flights, flights with layovers, and even indirect routes, as long as your final destination is Phu Quoc. You can then travel to any other country after your stay.
- Limited stay: Your visit to Phu Quoc must not exceed 30 days. You will be required to present proof of your departure within this timeframe, such as a return flight ticket or cruise ship departure date.
- No prior deportation: You must not have been previously deported from Vietnam.
- Clear Interpol record: You must not be listed as a wanted person by Interpol.
- Entry by air or sea: You must arrive in Phu Quoc by air (via Phu Quoc International Airport) or by sea (on a ship or cruise). Entry via land borders is not permitted for visa-free entry to Phu Quoc.
Furthermore, holders of a valid APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) are granted an extended visa exemption of maximum 60 days.
