Central Vietnam Beaches : A Gift of the Mother Nature

With over 3,200 kilometers of coastline, Vietnam has so much to offer for a great beach getaway. Planning to go to the center of Vietnam, don't overlook the amazing beach options to rejuvenate and have fun. Below are our suggestions for the best central Vietnam beaches with picked-up accommodation.

1. Lang Co, Hue

With the mountains of Bach Ma National Park in the background, Lang Co boasts a very gorgeous and lengthy beach. The lovely golden and white sand along the 10-kilometer coastline is highly enticing. You may relax on the sand or rent a boat to explore the area, which includes a trip to Son Cha Island not far off the shore. Lang Co can also be a great stop-by between Hoi An and Hue if you want something refreshing and slow-paced.

There are two distinct seasons of the year at Lang Co Beach: the dry and the wet. Since lounging and swimming are the primary reasons people visit, that is the perfect time to visit this beach. The waves are gentle, the air is mild, and the sea is crystal clear right now.

How to get there?

The quickest way to Lang Co Beach from Hue city center is through National Road 1A. To go to Chan May road from Nguyen Tat Thanh street, you'll first need to visit the town of Huong Thuy. To get to the beach, keep going for another 12 km.

Suggested accommodations:

  • Banyan Tree Lang Co Vietnam (5-star)
  • Angsana Lang Co (5-star)
  • Lang Co beach resort (4-star)
  • Laguna Parkside Residences Lang Co (3-star)

2. Thien Cam, Ha Tinh

The province of Ha Tinh, which can be reached by traveling south from Hanoi, is home to a central Vietnam beach that is well worth a stop. The allure of Thien Can Beach lies in its natural beauty. Its location next to Thien Can Mountain makes for a picturesque scene, especially when viewed from above.

If you're searching for something to do in Thien Cam other than a lounge on the beach, consider a trip to the 13th-century Yen Lac Pagoda. The legend goes that the First Hung King loved to unwind there, taking in the sounds of the ocean. Thien Cam, which translates to "Heaven's Lute," is the name he chose for it. The beach has been known by this name for generations.

Ha Tinh is accessible by coach, train or plane. With a train or plane, your arrival destination is Vinh airport/train station. Then you need to take a taxi or rent a motorcycle to get to the beach.

  • Seabird Hotel Thien Cam (4-star)
  • LAMER Thien Cam Hotel (3-star)

3. My Khe, Da Nang

My Khe Beach is great for swimming year-round since there are no dangerously strong waves, the water is at a comfortable temperature, and the beach is an average of 60 meters wide. Staying near the beach in My Khe will allow you to enjoy the beautiful morning views from the comfort of your accommodation.

My Khe Beach has magnificent places surrounded by coconut trees, clean and warm water all year, and a blue sky. My Khe Beach in Vietnam was named "one of the most attractive beaches on the planet" by Forbes Magazine due to its tranquil atmosphere and abundance of natural beauty. The government and the Da Nang Lifesaving Association put in many hours to earn this accolade, ensuring the beach is always clean and safe for guests while also providing them with free access and excellent lodgings. Along with beach activities, you can combine with a food tour in Danang which is a must-try and visit some nearby attractions such as Son Tra Peninsula, Cham Island, the Golden Bridge,...

How to get there?

Less than two kilometers separate My Khe Beach and any inland locations between the Han River and the ocean. Tourist hotels are commonly constructed on the beachfront and on offshoot roads of Vo Nguyen Giap Boulevard, making it quite convenient to jumpstart a maritime journey from any of these locations. Similarly close by is An Thuong Area, one of Vietnam's busiest tourist areas.

You have many choices to get here: motorbike rental, bus, taxi, bicycles…, all of which are quite affordable.

Suggested accommodations:

  • Four Points by Sheraton Danang (5-star)
  • Premier Village Danang Resort (5-star)
  • Furama Villas Danang (5-star)
  • Pullman Danang Beach Resort (5-star)
  • Belle Maison Parosand Danang Hotel (4-star)
  • Sala Danang Beach Hotel (4-star)
  • Stella Maris Beach Danang Hotel (4-star)
  • Dana Marina hotel (3-star)

4. Cham Island, Hoi An

With its reputation as one of the top central Vietnam beach options in Hoi An, the Cham Islands have become a popular tourist attraction for visitors from all over the world. There is one major island and eight smaller islands that make up Cu Lao Cham, which together cover an area of 15 square kilometers. Tours departing from Da Nang will cover the additional 45 kilometers to reach the Cham Islands, whereas the trip from Hoi An will only take around 20 kilometers.

From March to August, the weather in the Cham Islands is perfect, with warm temperatures and lots of sunshine. Some outdoor pursuits can be carried out during this period, like swimming, scuba diving, sunbathing, etc. The rest of the year occurs with much rainfall and strong sea waves, so there are no boats available to go to Cham Island.

Getting to the group of islands takes around 20 minutes by canoe, making it a fast and convenient option. It's great for adrenaline junkies who want a real sense of surfing power. Canoes have a ticket price of 200,000 VND (9$) per person per way. If you are a large group of people, consider renting a canoe for 5 million VND (200$) for a 20-seat canoe.

There is another way to go to Cham Island, which is by wooden boat, but it takes so much longer (2-3 hours). This way you can slowly watch the clear water but is not recommended for seasick passengers. The rides cost 150,000 VND for locals and 200,000 VND for visitors from outside.

Suggested accommodations:

Normally, tourists will enjoy a day tour to Cham Island and return to the mainland for overnight. However, if you want to check what it is like to stay on this beautiful unspoiled beach cluster, lodging is available but very limited and basically-equipped.

  • Homestay villa Nha Go
  • Gia Thanh Homestay
  • Sunbay Homestay Cu Lao Cham

5. An Bang, Hoi An

Locals and tourists from all over the world love An Bang Beach, which is only 5 kilometers from the center of Hoi An. From Hoi An or Da Nang, it's easy to get there by cab, motorbike, or bike. When you're done with a long walk in Hoi An Ancient Town, there's nothing better than lying on the soft, fine sand and drinking a coconut in An Bang beach - the most tranquil option for central Vietnam beaches, in my opinion.

It didn't take long for An Bang beach to grow from a sleepy town on the water to a tourist spot. So many people went to An Bang Beach so fast that the area isn't very built up, which makes it feel like a beach town. It's true that all of the bars and restaurants are pretty small, but they make up for it with great food, drinks, and entertainment. Huge amounts of money are being put into An Bang, which will bring even more vacationers to the area.

An Bang Beach is ready for visitors. There are ATMs to get cash, pharmacies, groceries stores, and clothes shops. There are also a lot of spas, massage salons, hotels, houses, homestays, restaurants, bars, and even cooking lessons.

The fastest and easiest way to get there is by car. Travel costs are pretty high for people who are traveling alone, but they will be much lower if you come with a big group.

The most chilling way to get from the center of Hoi An Ancient Town to An Bang Beach is to ride a bike. It costs between 20,000 and 50,000 VND per bike per day to rent one. It takes a little more energy than other ways to get there, but you can see some cool things along the way.

  • CHiEM HoiAn - The Beachside Boutique Hotel & Villa (4-star)
  • Sol An Bang Beach Resort & Spa (4-star)

  • The Blue Alcove hotel (3-star)

6. Ly Son, Quang Ngai

Ly Son Island is a place where the sun, clouds, sea, mountains, and rocks all come together in perfect harmony, and the kind and friendly locals just add to the experience. Ly Son, which is entirely submerged, is a popular central Vietnam beach due to its abundance of beautiful coastline and the mysterious black stone abysses generated by the volcanic sediments that extend deep into the sea.

Crystal clean water allows visitors to observe seaweed and other creatures swimming below. Beautiful beaches have been carved out of the island's steep cliffs.

Besides the beach, Ly Son is rich in its cultural value such as many pagodas, giant Buddha statues to look for. And most importantly, the food, including authentic garlic salad and jellyfish salad are must-try of Ly Son specialties.

7. Eo Gio, Quy Nhon

Mountains form an enormous bow around Eo Gio. That’s the explanation of this well-known attraction. Compared to other central Vietnam beaches, Eo Gio's natural and magnificent beauty holds its own. You have to go on an adventure to find this miracle in the midst of the rugged mountains. The ocean is so blue it will take your breath away when you see it, and the strangely shaped rocky cliffs that surround the entire sea create an atmosphere of tranquility that can only be experienced by resting on the rocks and letting the wind blow in your ear. Visit Eo Gio between December and May for the greatest weather. The weather in Quy Nhon is pleasant for outdoor activities at this time of year, falling just short of being scorching.

Eo Gio is the perfect site to enjoy outdoor activities such as walking down the coastal trail, scuba diving, admiring the sunrise… Make sure you have a nice camera to take stunning pictures on this breathtaking beach.

8. Ky Co, Quy Nhon

Ky Co beach is about 30–40 minutes away from Eo Gio via boat or canoe. You'll be stunned by the natural beauty and raw nature of Ky Co beach. The sea is blue, and the rocks are a jade green, so together they form many little pools. Ky Co's tourist industry is only getting off the ground, so don't expect to find any five-star accommodations here just yet. In exchange, you'll see wild animals up close, learn to groove with the locals, feast on delicious seafood, and marvel at the sea's untouched beauty. That is the kind of once-in-a-lifetime adventure that every young person should have.
