Bach Ma National Park has a very long history relating to military campaigns in Vietnam since 1925. It was only in 1986 that the Vietnamese government had a policy of preserving nature on a national scale and established a system of prohibited forests, including Bach Ma-Hai Van.
Up to now, Bach Ma National Park has a total natural area of 37,423.10 hectares.
Bach Ma National Park is located in Phu Loc district, Thua Thien Hue province, 40km from Hue city, and 65km from Da Nang. Bach Ma National Park is part of the Northern Truong Son range, with many 1,000m-high mountain ranges running from West to East.
The Role of Bach Ma National Park
Bach Ma National Park is a public service unit under the General Department of Forestry, with the function of managing, protecting, and developing special-use forests; conserving and promoting special values of nature, standard ecosystem samples, biodiversity, biological genetic resources, historical and cultural relics, landscape, scientific research; providing forest environmental services and ecotourism within the scope of assigned management and provisions of law.
There are 2,373 plant species and 1,715 diverse animal species, many of which are included in the Vietnam Red List.
