How to get from Ho Chi Minh city to Phu Quoc?

2. Ho Chi Minh city to Phu Quoc by road and sea line.

1/ Ho Chi Minh city to Phu Quoc by flight

This type of transportation is the most convenient because you only need one fly route straight to Phu Quoc. Currently, domestic routes have direct flights to Phu Quoc from Hanoi, Hai Phong, Can Tho, and Ho Chi Minh (Saigon). Most flights are still from Hanoi and Saigon.

Airfare: from 1.000.000 – 2.000.000 VND. Depends on flight route and ticket class.
Flight time: 1 hour
Departure time: Every 15 flights per day. Earliest at 6.05 and latest at 19.55.
Departure terminal: Tan Son Nhat airport in Ho Chi Minh city
Arrival terminal: Phu Quoc airport in Phu Quoc Island
Advantages: fast and save time for travel activities
Disadvantages: high cost, waste time for check in and moving between hotel and airport.

2/ Ho Chi Minh city to Phu Quoc by road and then by sea line.

Besides flight, you can move from Ho Chi Minh city to Phu Quoc by road and by sea line. That means you move by bus, car, motorbike (by road) to Rach Gia or Ha Tien and then take a high-speed boat to Phu Quoc Island.

2.1 First part: by road:
You could transfer by private car or bus from Saigon to Rach Gia or Ha Tien

- Private car from Saigon:
Usually, tourists choose private car to combine with some other tourist destinations as Ben Tre, Can Tho, Rach Gia before arriving in Phu Quoc. Or Saigon – Ha Tien – Phu Quoc
Price for private car: 1.800.000 VND/day ( sedan or SUV car) for program 3 days.
Advantages: proactive in time, private space, could stop anytime, anywhere to enjoy sightseeing, relax and photos.
Disadvantages: high cost and may be traffic jam on holidays

- Bus from Saigon:
If your budget is not too much, you can choose bus from Saigon to Rach gia or Ha Tien, then take taxi or motorbike taxi to high speed boat port for transfer to Phu Quoc. You also check the bus time for sure not missing the boat to Phu Quoc

Departure time: Earliest at 6.30 and latest at 23.00. Every 1 hour.

2.2 The second part: From Rach Gia or Ha Tien to Phu Quoc by high speed boat:
From the bus station, you can take taxi or motorbike taxi or even walking ( as the distance is about 1.5km) to the port for high speed boat to Phu Quoc island.
