(Chinhphu.vn) On November 02, 2021, the Vietnamese Government approved the plan for welcoming international tourists proposed by the Vietnam Tourism Administration. According to this plan, phase 3 with the full reopening of Vietnam's borders to tourists could be deployed well before June 2022, once the results of the first two phases are encouraging.
Vietnam is severely affected by a devastating wave of Covid 19 from June 2021 to September. The country had to take drastic measures to restrict movement in almost all provinces of Vietnam, especially in South Vietnam.
Along with the restrictions, the Government has accelerated vaccination campaigns for the people. According to the plan, Vietnam will achieve vaccine coverage for 80% of its population by the first quarter of 2022.

With all the incredible efforts made, Vietnam has once again won the 3rd wave of Covid-19 (February 2021). For more than 40 days, the country has not recorded any new community infected cases. The Government is considering a plan to resume international flights from 1 April.
Vietnam - The National Aviation Administration plans to expand the regular operation of international routes in 3 periods.
For the 1st period:
It is planned to resume some package airlines that will cater only to Vietnamese nationals, announced on 31 March - a representative of the National Aviation Administration.
In this period, the airlines will coordinate with travel agencies, diplomatic and local authorities in receiving passengers in the designated quarantine hotels. These package flights will cover all costs of airfare, Covid-19 test, accommodation, catering during the 15-day quarantine and vehicle travel to the quarantine location.
For the 2nd period, from July 2021.
Regular international flights to Vietnam will be carried out to accommodate Vietnamese and foreign citizens who will be quarantined according to regulations. The routes connecting Vietnam with three countries, Japan, Republic of Korea and Taiwan-China will be operated with a sequence of 4 routes per week for the airline companies of each country.
The 3rd Period, expected from Sept 2021
Depending on the process of Covid-19 vaccination injection in Vietnam and the world, the Vietnam Aviation Administration will launch regular flights to Vietnam that do not require quarantine after immigration if applying “ vaccine passport”
The flight routes in this period are re-established between countries and territories that accept the vaccines that Vietnam has announced; The frequency was originally planned 7 flights per week for each party's airlines.
A flight in Vietnam Airlines during Covid 19 period
With a declaration of negative test for the virus and a certificate of international Covid vaccination approved by Vietnam, the passengers will not be quarantined in a designated place. Passengers will have to declare to the authorities of the place they stay once after immigration and observe the quarantine regulations at home for 7 to 14 days.
A vaccine passport for travelling to Vietnam?
Passengers who do not have enough nCoV test and international immunization certificate are required to be on quarantine for 14 days as a lump-sum fee. This plan will be proposed to the National Committee for Prevention and Control of Covid-19 and relevant authorities for review and decision.
Vietnam Airlines, on the other hand, has resumed flights to some countries to serve the needs of Vietnamese citizens wishing to study, work and visit relatives abroad. For entry into Vietnam, flights are resumed exclusively for the repatriation of Vietnamese and experts approved by the relevant authorities.
From 1 April to 30 June, according to Vietnam Airlines, it will expand the regular operation of 4 international routes connecting Hanoi to Narita (Tokyo), Hanoi to Incheon (Republic of Korea), Hanoi to Sydney and Ho Chi Minh City to Sydney.

Hi! I would like to go to Vietnam to work as English teacher. I thought to go in October. Do you think that's posible? I'm young (30years old) so I will not use the vaccine. Do you think I must have an invitation from a Vietnamese school? Thank you for your answer.

Hi, Anna. The answer to your question speaks also to Decree 152, enacted within the last year, which makes employment of foreign workers exponentially more difficult. Thousands of foreign teachers fled the country when it was enacted, as the employment requirements are much higher. Investigate it online and see for yourself. As for the ability to enter Vietnam as a tourist, it looks like the border won't reopen fully until at least June of 2022. Good luck. Tim
