Terraced rice fields are not only a unique beauty in Vietnam but also a special gift that Mother Nature bestows on Southeast Asian countries. In Vietnam, this type of farming is common in the Northwest mountain.
For a long time, the mountains of Sa Pa, Y Ty (Lao Cai province) along with Hoang Su Phi (Ha Giang province), Mu Cang Chai (Yen Bai province) are the 4 places with the most beautiful terraced fields in the northern mountains of Vietnam. Many tourists are eager to come and admire the beauties.

In the ripe rice season, the terraced fields spread a poetic yellow color. At that time, an entire upland rice area was ripe and bright yellow. The mountains and hills are adjacent to each other, glowing with a rich yellow color.

In particular, the rice fields winding along the mountainside like undulating, overflowing waves, layer after layer endlessly. The beautiful terraced fields are like stairs reaching up to the sky. All create a magnificent beauty but equally quiet and peaceful.

The owners and also "barefoot artists" who create beautiful and rich terraced fields in the Northwest mountains that look like giant sculptures are the Dzao, Mong, and Ha Nhi, Zay, Thai ethnic minorities.

The terraced fields are not naturally formed like that. Their origin is the same as that of other mountains.
The hardest thing about making them into terraces is leveling the fields and creating areas. These steps affect the ability to hold water of the field for the rice.

From May to June is the pouring season in the Northwest, people take advantage of the first rains of summer to direct water from the mountains to the terraced fields. This season, the terraced fields seem to put on a new shirt, sparkling in beautiful colors. The color of the brown earth, of the blue sky, of the water iridescent under the brilliant sun.

All the rice terraces in Northwest Vietnam are made by hand. Local people use the simplest tools of Vietnamese farmers to build these rice fields. Thus, it makes the northwest terraces more impressive.

Seen from afar, the terraced fields are as soft as golden silk wrapped around the green mountainside, there are also sections that are layered, layered along the hillside, looming in the translucent white clouds, one after another, iridescent in the beautiful autumn sun.

Terraced rice fields are a special thing of this place. Like other Vietnamese rice terraces, the Northwest has an amazing beauty where the rice terraces seem to touch the sky

The best view of the Northwest terrace that attracts tourists is the clouds in the mountains. People often say that the clouds above the terrace look like a scarf.

From the time the dawn has just risen, the morning dew is still lingering in the air until the first rays of sunlight spread on the "stairs to the sky", or in the late afternoon, the smell of ripe rice is mixed with the smell of kitchen smoke from the roof of ethnic people's houses hidden in the vast space, each moment the Northwest has its own beauty that makes those who come here do not want to stop walking.

Standing on the top of the mountain, looking around, you can see that all around is rice, rice spread in the valley, rice is on the mountainside, layers and layers, all yellow. In the distance, girls with heavy baskets of early-cut sticky rice are brought back to make the beginning of the season young nuggets. A few thatched roofs are located in the middle of the vast rice fields, the high smoke of burning straw makes a feeling of peace and love that is hard to find.

October is the best time for tourists to visit and admire the wonder of the Northwest terraces. There are many rice fields in the Northwest of Vietnam that you can easily see on the road.

Looking at the terraced fields in the Northwest, we admire the hard work of people in the barren land into upland fields. Simple things become shimmering beautiful in the early morning dew, then covered by sunlight, covering all over the fields and on colorful, flickering floral dresses that adorn the Northwest painting.
