Many local passengers use bus to go from Hanoi to Son La. The buses depart from My Dinh and Yen Nghia bus station in the morning and evening every day. Drop off at Son La bus station or Muong La bus station

• Price: 220.000 – 340.000 VND/pax – depends on the bus companies
• Travel time: 8-10 hours
• Departure schedule: Earliest at 6.30 and latest at 22.00
• Advantages: low price, many buses to choose
• Disadvantages: have to transit to the pick-up and drop off point
  No proactive in time, travel schedule is depended on the bus companies
  No communicate with drivers for supports. If get off the wrong place, it is easy to lost the way and no taxi to catch in the mountainous area.

3/ Hanoi to Son La by taxi

This is an easy means of transportation but not a good choice for mountainous roads, the vehicle is not suitable, the driver does not have much experience in this road. Addition, the cost is high than the private car. Or even much higher if you get the wrong taxi. Not many tourists choose this kind of transfer.
