Exploring Pre-Angkorian Temples and Artistic Gems around Siem Reap
Morning dedicated to exploring the Roluos Group, the cradle of Angkorian civilization. Visit Preah Ko, built by King Indravarman in honor of his ancestors; Bakong, an impressive temple-mountain still home to an active monastery; and Lolei, located on an islet in the middle of an ancient reservoir.
This afternoon, head towards the Banteay Srei temple. On the way, stop in a typical Khmer village to meet locals and discover their daily life. You'll witness the traditional production of palm sugar—an age-old craft—and enjoy a tasting!
Continue on to Banteay Srei, known as the “Citadel of Women.” Located about 30 kilometers northeast of Angkor Wat, this 10th-century gem is considered one of Cambodia’s finest and most delicate architectural creations. Its pink sandstone sanctuaries, finely carved with intricate details, have made the site famous.
The visit continues with Banteay Samre temple, dating from the 12th century. Though slightly older than Angkor Wat, it shares a similar architectural style. Originally Hindu, it also features Buddhist bas-reliefs, reflecting the spiritual evolution of the time.
In the evening, you will dine at a local restaurant where you will enjoy a delicious meal accompanied by a mesmerizing Apsara dance show. This classical dance performance is a beautiful representation of Khmer culture and history.

Visit Angkor Thom, the grand capital of the Khmer Empire in the 12th century. Begin at the South Gate, adorned with massive statues depicting the churning of the ocean of milk. Discover the iconic Bayon Temple, known for its 54 towers with over 200 smiling faces of Avalokiteshvara. Explore the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas Temple, Terrace of the Elephants, and Terrace of the Leper King, each showcasing the grandeur of Angkorian architecture.
Explore Angkor Wat, the most famous and well-preserved temple in Angkor. Covering 81 hectares, it rivals the size of the Imperial Palace in Beijing. Its iconic five towers, featured on the Cambodian flag, make it a symbol of national pride. This 12th-century masterpiece is considered the pinnacle of classical Khmer architecture.
End the day with a stunning sunset view from the top of Pre Rup Temple.
