History
Da Nang’s rich history dates back to ancient times when the Cham-pa Empire controlled much of present-day central and southern Vietnam. Then in the 16th century, Da Nang became an important port for the Vietnamese Nguyen Lords. During the French colonial period in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Da Nang was known as Tourane and was an important centre of trade and commerce. The French built several notable buildings in the city, including the Da Nang Cathedral and the Museum of Cham Sculpture. During the War, Da Nang was heavily bombed, causing significant damage to buildings and infrastructure. After the war, it underwent significant reconstruction, modernization and has incredibly become a major economic hub and tourist destination.

Climate
Da Nang has a tropical climate with two seasons - the dry season (from February to August) and the rainy season (from September to January). The average temperature is around 25-30°C, and the most pleasant time to visit the city is during February and May.
