- Long Beach, on the west side, is the largest and busiest beach on Phu Quoc. It is on this long beach that hotels, restaurants and beachfront bungalows are concentrated.
- Located on the remote north-western tip of the island, Ganh Dau Beach is a wonderful little patch of white sand bordered by palm trees and bounded on the east by high ridges densely covered with vegetation.

Go fishing on the island of Phu Quoc

For a half or full day, board a boat with a local crew for a memorable fishing trip. The locals know the fishiest corners of the island and will show you their fishing techniques to catch all kinds of fish that they will be happy to cook for you afterwards. It will also be an excellent opportunity to see Phu Quoc Island from another angle, as you can see the island's densely coconut-covered coastline.

Discover the seabed of Phu Quoc

This is an activity that can be combined with a boat trip for fishing if you take the option of discovering the seabed of Phu Quoc with mask, snorkel and flippers. For those who want to discover more of the ocean depths of Phu Quoc, a few diving clubs give you the opportunity to go on some very nice sea trips to discover the abundant marine fauna and flora.  

The pepper of the island of Phu Quoc

On the slopes of the mountains you will find several family pepper plantations. Introduced in the 18th century by the Chinese, pepper production is flourishing on the island of Phu Quoc. Connoisseurs appreciate this biting pepper, with its leathery scent and wild and sweet notes. We invite you to visit a pepper plantation in order to discover all the stages of production most often carried out manually: harvesting, retting, washing, drying and sorting.

Pearl oyster farms

Phu Quoc is often referred to as "Pearl Island" because of the many pearl oyster farms that have settled on the island, taking advantage of the ideal climatic conditions for this type of culture. By visiting one of these pearl oyster farms, you will discover the fascinating process of pearl production. The oyster pearls obtained after meticulous work are then transformed into rings, necklaces, earrings, bracelets and other jewellery that will be an excellent souvenir to take back home with you from Phu Quoc.

The nuoc mam factories

Here's another interesting visit: a nuoc mam factory. To learn more about the manufacturing process of the famous Vietnamese sauce which is the essential condiment of Vietnamese cuisine. The nuoc mam is extracted by pressing and filtering a brine, 15 kg of salt for 100 kg of anchovies, macerated for 12 months in jars in the sun or wooden barrels. The nuoc mam of Phu Quoc is known to be one of the best in Vietnam.

Discovery of the national park

On foot or by kayak, discover this natural sanctuary rich in abundant fauna and flora so diversified that the island is considered as a conservatory of the genes of Vietnamese flora.

Visit the "coconut prison".

Built in 1949-1950 by the French colonial authorities to hold political dissidents, this prison was known for its extremely harsh prison regime and for its "tiger cages" where some prisoners were locked up. After the departure of the French, this prison was later used by the South Vietnamese regime to detain Vietcong and North Vietnamese soldiers. Classified as a special historical relic of national importance by the Vietnamese government, the prison became a museum open to visitors.

Best season: We recommend that you stay on the island of Phu Quoc during the dry season, from November to April. From May to October is the rainy season and sea connections are sometimes cut due to bad weather conditions.
