Outside of the aforementioned period, the island falls within the region impacted by tropical depressions in the East Sea. Consequently, frequent storms, rough seas, and sizable waves are common occurrences.

At this time, the ships that transport tourists from the mainland to Cu Lao Cham Island must be temporarily halted. If you arrive during this period, you may find yourself marooned on the island for several days or even weeks, should the weather conditions worsen.

Therefore, it is imperative to meticulously review your calendar and seek advice from knowledgeable individuals such as locals or experienced tour guides to avoid finding yourself in a precarious situation.

2. How to get to Cu Lao Cham Island?

  • High-Speed Canoes

This thrilling mode of transportation offers a fast (approximately 15-20 minutes) and convenient way to reach the island, making it ideal for tourists with limited time or those seeking an adrenaline rush.

With two trips per day, departing at 9:00 and returning at 14:00, you can easily plan your visit to this enchanting island. Regrettably, due to limited space, it is unable to accommodate motorbikes on the canoes.

  • Wooden Boats

This transportation has a slow pace, allows you to fully immerse yourself in the beauty of the surroundings, taking approximately 2-3 hours to reach the island. This option is perfect for those who wish to spend more time on the sea, indulging in the tranquillity and serenity it offers.

However, it is advised that this experience may not be suitable for individuals prone to seasickness. The gentle rocking of the boat may cause discomfort for those with such tendencies.

One of the advantages of the wooden boats is their ability to accommodate a larger number of passengers. Additionally, the boats have the capacity to carry more motorbikes.

Hey there my partner and I are thinking of going to cham island for a snorkeling trip and overnight stay. However we have heard mostly horrible things about the tours and snorkel spots being overcrowded. However some people mention there are more secluded spots with beautiful reefs. Do you know perhaps where some of these may be? Only want to go if we can have a great snorkel experience where it's beautiful under water and not to crowded. Thankyou

Hi Tahne, there are several areas in Cu Lao Cham that are used for snorkeling to see corals. If you want to go to a less crowded area of Cu Lao Cham, avoid weekends, when many Vietnamese go to the beach. Please send us a message to Whatsapp no. +84 382 536 266 to get details and price.
